The highest office of the Republic of India is the President.  The one who holds the office is the first citizen and defender of the Constitution of India.  Former Jharkhand Governor Draupadi Murmu, a native of Odisha, has been declared the candidate of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) to run for the new presidency – once the tenure of Ram Nath Govind ends – who is elected by the members of parliament and legislators every five years.

She started her career as a collage-teacher; later became a ward councillor, twice a member of the Legislative Assembly, a minister in the state of Odisha, and a former governor of the state of Jharkhand and is currently being declared the presidential candidate.  She belongs to the most backward tribe of the state of Odisha.  It is commendable that a women from more than 7.5% of the indigenous community in India have been fielded as candidates for the highest office.  I extend my congratulations to the Prime Minister of India Modiji, who proposed her as the Presidential Candidate, the National President of the BJP Naddaji, and to all the parties in the National Democratic Alliance.

Although Murmu has been declared the candidate of the National Democratic Alliance, the expectation of the majority of the Indian people is that all opposition parties in India should unanimously support her on the basis of her background as a woman from a marginalized tribal community. I wish Draupadi Murmu for a resounding success and restoring great respect and esteem not only for the community in which she was born, but also for India; I also wish her to dedicate herself to making India a strong nation.
