Regarding NEET’s selection,
Stalin’s meeting of assembly party leaders is undemocratic!
The outcome of this meeting does not reflect the true sentiments of the entire state of Tamil Nadu

Stalin is expected to chair a meeting of party leaders today on the cancellation of the selection of NEET. NEET’s selection is not an option brought about by the will of the Central Government. It is a matter of legislation in Parliament based on the advice of the National Medical Council, which regulates medical education, and the Supreme Court’s decision. If a law is to be enacted at the All India level, the primary duty of each State Government is to prepare the students of the respective State for the examination in accordance with that Act. It’s not fair to leave it at that and continue to politicise it for political reasons like the famous idiom ‘The rabbit I caught has three legs’.

The resolution passed in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly asking for NEET exemption for Tamil Nadu during the last AIADMK regime went all the way to the President and it has already been rejected. According to the Constitution of India, a resolution or law passed by any State Government against a law passed by the Parliament of India is not valid.
From 2017 to 2019 and 2021, before the parliamentary and assembly elections, the DMK campaigned by favouring NEET election slogans in its election manifesto. They won a majority of parliamentary seats before the 2019 parliamentary election, winning crucial votes that would pass legislation in parliament if it won the parliamentary election. At this juncture, three years after the victory, not a single atom of the 38 members of parliament has been able to move.
Similarly, before the 2021 Assembly elections, both father and son took to the streets singing the old ballad that if they won the elections then they promised the NEET’s selection would be canceled in the first assembly session. They are now stepping into the eighth month after completing 7 months in power. The promise that NEET would be repealed by a legislative resolution has not been kept. Instead, They came to Tamil Nadu and shouted that they had been deceived by the Home Minister who has invariably insulted the people of Tamil Nadu. They claimed he refused to meet the 7 DMK MPs who had been trying to get an appointment with him for more than seven days. Apparently, Home Minister Amit Shah had urged them to send the passed resolution to the Governor of Tamil Nadu to urge him to cancel the NEET’s selection and send the resolution back to the hon’ble President.

The parliamentary session lasted for more than a month. If they really wanted to meet the Home Minister they could have gone and met very easily during the parliamentary events. The Home Minister would not have refused to meet those who have been in the Union Cabinet for more than 10 years and are currently members of Parliament.
But the aim of the DMK and their allies is not to act realistically or to justify the problems of the people. Of course, despite knowing that this will not happen, they have won the people’s vote in the parliamentary and assembly elections by making false promises. But the promise could not be kept. All this is a ploy to somehow put the blame on the BJP government again. It is not Amit Shah ji who is deceiving the people of Tamil Nadu in the matter of NEET, it is the DMK and their allies!

The Home Ministry can make recommendations for the appointment of state governors. In the end, the hon’ble president appoints the governors themselves. Except their job is just to appoint. Thereafter, all governors have the full right to act freely in accordance with the rules of law. It is not customary to compel governors from the home ministry at any ordinary time, except that reports may be sought from the home ministry only if law and order in a state is completely disrupted and peace is disturbed under extraordinary circumstances; It’s not the usual practice.

It is unconstitutional for any home ministry to interfere in the day-to-day affairs of governors and say, ‘Send this petition there, send that petition here.’ TR Baalu has been a regular in the Union Cabinet since the time when Shri. Vajpayee ji was Prime Minister. He must have duly told Stalin about the legal process. India has 545 members in the Lok Sabha and 245 members in the state legislatures, for a total of about 800 members. They are representing various parties from various states. It is impossible for everyone to meet the Prime Minister of India, the President or the Home Minister every day. What is the purpose of the 7 DMK MPs coming to meet someone like the Home Minister? Permission to meet usually will be granted only after knowing their agenda.

Won’t the Home Ministry be aware that the DMK and their allies have walked out of the last two days of the more than a month-long parliamentary session causing a stir over the NEET’s selection? When it comes to meeting the Home Minister again for the same issue, the MPs led by TR Baalu may not have been allotted time since they may not have anything new to say. It is absurd and baseless for TR Baalu to say that Amit Shah ji has insulted 8 crore Tamils for not seeing the DMK MPs and Stalin is, in turn, echoing the same sentiments.

The DMK and their allies continue to hold on to NEET and plan to do politics for the next three years. Hitting a dead snake is different; But it’s fun to see people beating it up even after it’s turned to dust.

The drama staged by the DMK and their allies in Parliament against NEET has not gone down well with the people of Tamil Nadu. Subsequently, the drama staged by TR Baalu and some MPs in front of Amit Shah ji’s house has not been entertained either. Today, there seems to be a drama going on in the garb of a meeting of the leaders of the legislative party led by Stalin.

What assembly party leaders meeting is it? If a party says it has no members in the legislature can they say they have no political party? From 2011 to 2016, not even two Communist parties were in the Tamil Nadu Assembly; not only PMK, many other parties did not win seats too. Citing this context, can they claim that they are not political parties at all? Why, even the DMK did not come to the party assembly from 1949 till 1957. In 1991, only one person won. He also did not come to the assembly and resigned later. In the by-elections that followed, Selvaraj and Ilambarithi won and did not get a seat in the DMK assembly until they left the assembly. Can it be said that DMK is not a political party for that? Only one Member of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly was there from 1996-2001 on behalf of the Puthiya Tamilagam Party; We had two members from 2011-2016. The fact that there are no legislators today does not mean that we are not a political party.

There can be no other democratic assassination than the recognition of political parties only if they win parliamentary and assembly elections in a democracy. The Legislative Assembly has been in session for the last three days. During the assembly session, the respective assembly party leaders may be called and asked for their views. Now that the legislature is not in session, a consultative meeting on NEET selection is being held. Instead of calling all the registered political parties and social movements in Tamil Nadu, what a gossip meeting it was to call five or six party leaders. How can these five parties alone be the voice of the people of Tamil Nadu as a whole?

This assembly of party leaders, which may have been convened by Stalin today, is fundamentally undemocratic; It is intentional; questionable as well; To be rejected. Any decisions that can be taken by these five leaders alone cannot be accepted as the expression of the people of Tamil Nadu as a whole. “Some may be deceived for some time; Many may be deceived for some time; Everyone can not be deceived all the time.”

Since the introduction of the NEET examination, there have been new medical colleges in 20 districts across Tamil Nadu on the basis of one medical college per district. The time when only 3000 people were medical students has changed and now there is a good opportunity for about 10,000 students to become doctors every year. But the DMK and their allies have completely hidden the pros and cons of NEET and are carrying out false propaganda by fabricating stories.

If the government really wants to know the sentiments of all the people of Tamil Nadu then the registered political parties and social movements in Tamil Nadu that can reflect the sentiments of all should call all the associations that may be involved in public life and know their views. Leaving it and calling on only a handful of political parties that can inflate what they want would be considered the DMK’s agenda to deceive the people of Tamil Nadu.

Dear Chief! Do not use the NEET’s selection as a weapon for your political gain; Do not make Tamil Nadu students part of your game of dice.
