Ukraine – Ukrainian authorities knock down a black woman and a South Indian student on the Polish border and prevent them from boarding a train!
Will racial and ethnic differences not go from the minds of Western whites to the battlefield? Does it disappear in death?
For the past four days since Russia launched its offensive in Ukraine, millions of people have sought refuge in neighbouring countries such as Romania and Poland. The Government of India is taking steps to evacuate most of the medical students from India from their homes and college campuses and bring them back to India safely.
Most of the Ukrainians from Ukraine, the so-called African-Americans who may have lived in the country, and most of the South Indian students who have gone to study in various states of India, have left Ukraine in droves and are flocking to the Polish border.
People affected by the war in Poland and Romania are being deported to other European countries, such as Romania and Poland, on the basis of declarations that they can enter without any visa.
War anxiety is something that normally affects all people. There is no distinction between the rich and poor, black and white. In this context, the news on BBC Television (https://twitter.com/bbcworld/status/1497981791675813893?s=21), which was broadcast world news yesterday, is shocking. It’s very worrying.
It has been reported that black women, especially Indian and South Indian students, were detained by Ukrainian authorities for boarding a train from the Polish border to other parts of the country. A black woman who boarded a train with an infant has been detained and pushed away. The BBC reports that the woman angrily asked the Ukrainian authorities, “Are you pushing me because I am black?” Similarly, a medical college student from Kerala was not only prevented from boarding the train but also severely beaten. No one should take this incident lightly. The Government of India should fully investigate its authenticity.
Ukrainian officials, who did not tolerate India’s neutrality in condemning the Russian invasion of Ukraine at the Security Council the day before yesterday, are said to have expressed that anger and hatred with racism against Indian students and black people. There have also been reports of Indian students leaving Ukraine for the past two days being forced to stay in Ukraine. This is a very dangerous trend.
There may be a thousand reasons for Russia to wage war on Ukraine. However, this war was not accepted by most people in the countries of the world. Everyone shows sympathy for the people of Ukraine. Every country in the world has different views on international issues. Even if you have to be reprimanded in such extraordinary circumstances, there are many reasons not to reprimand. Therefore, if India is neutral in the UN, it is a matter of Indian foreign policy; It is a matter of the right to life and sovereignty of 140 crore people.
Just because Ukraine is now embroiled in war does not mean that India can make a hasty decision. But, it doesn’t matter if this hatred is on the surface. But it would be very dangerous to say that it extends as far as the ordinary grassroots Ukrainian official who may be at a border. Will the Indian people ever understand that Europeans, even if they are ordinary citizens, make decisions in every matter based on their own interests and the interests of their country?
War is raging in most parts of Ukraine. There is a situation where ordinary people cannot walk outside. No water, No food. There is no safety of life. Possessions are not protected. So, the danger of leaving one’s own home and leaving the country has come. Even so, racist and racist racism on the battlefields of whites in the West, if true, of the black-and-white racial and ethnic differences between the Indo-South Indian Kerala student and the black woman who was so distressed with her baby that she had to sit down on the train without a seat. Won’t even go? Does it disappear even in death? The question arises. I urge the Government of India to fully investigate this and take appropriate action.
