School and college students must wear uniforms!
We welcome the verdict of the Hon’ble Karnataka High Court!!
It has been long-standing practice and requirement to wear a uniform not only in India but also in schools and some colleges around the world. Today’s children are tomorrow’s leaders; guides to the family, the country, and the world. Uniforms are being implemented in public and private schools on the basis that caste, religion, ethnicity, color and economic inequalities in the society. They should not in any way be ingrained in the minds of school children. Even birds and animals flock to each other for a kind of social life. But the enlightened mankind is divided by a number of factors.
Recently, at a school in Karnataka, a section of students said, “We do not wear uniforms; we will come to school dressed in their religious identity. ” The students of the particular religious sect argued in court that it was a fundamental and religious right to cover their faces with a cloth (hijab). As soon as this issue arose, we wrote in our statement dated 6th February that “No caste, creed, ethnic or color identity should be allowed in schools, and that uniforms should be made compulsory in all educational institutions, not just in Karnataka”. This was incensed by some extremist organizations who wanted to divide India on the basis of religion. They spent millions of rupees, hired lawyers, and argued in court.
According to Satyameva Jayate, which means victory, justice has ultimately won. “The shield for women is not a compulsion of that religion; Therefore, they cannot insist on it; Similarly, students should not oppose uniforms as determined in schools and colleges; they must wear it. The Karnataka High Court has given a historic verdict. We welcome this. We continue to insist that such caste and religious identities should not be allowed in schools and colleges, not only now, but also in schools and colleges in Tamil Nadu, where students can identify their caste by remembering the great controversies and incidents that have resulted in such incidents as giving bruises on the forehead and tying ropes on the hands.
Therefore, I urge the Parliament of India to enact legislation to make uniform enforcement compulsory in all schools, colleges and universities in India, subject to the judgment of the Karnataka High Court.
Moreover, there is no need for any sect to count this judgment in their favour or against it. Even though it is a house, the yard is different, the living room is different, the kitchen is different, and the prayer room is different. Similarly, schools and colleges are different places of worship and religious places of worship are different. Everyone should give up the idea of wanting their religious and caste identity in the uniform that is enforced on people of the same age in a country; I urge everyone to approach this issue with a broad, egalitarian mindset and with a single mindset of being Indian.
