Why do ‘The Stockists’, who talk about rationality, oppose the setting up of a Neutrino Science Analysis Centre in Tamil Nadu?

THENI DISTRICT – The Tamil Nadu government has told the Supreme Court that permission cannot be granted for the ‘INDIAN NEUTRINO OBSERVATORY’ called INO located at Pottipuram near Bodi. It has recorded its opposition as ‘Tiger Sanctuary’ for the sole purpose of opposing the federal government’s plan without even the slightest study of neutrino atoms or laboratories in other countries. Neutrino laboratories are only available in certain countries in the world, such as the United States, China, and Japan. Subsequently, it is a rare opportunity in India, especially in Tamil Nadu, with an estimated value of Rs 1500 crore. The Tamil Nadu government has started to put a stop to it.

When a big project comes along, it is fair to say that people in the area where it is located are reluctant to favour it because they do not know the full nature and pros and cons of the project. But in what sense is it fair for some people to oppose something just for the sake of politics? In Tamil Nadu, some movements oppose the establishment of the Neutrino Observatory in the name of democracy and oppose the central government’s plans illogically.

The Neutrino Observatory is located on a hillock near the village of Pottipuram, 15 km from Bodi in Theni District. What is its nature is made clear in the name itself. ‘Neutral’ means ‘neutral or balanced’. Neutrinos mean the same thing though. Until 19th century, the atom was considered the only indivisible ‘last molecule’. However, scientists have gradually discovered that there are more than 12 atomic particles inside an atom. Also, researched that atom can be split, what are the tiny particles in it by splitting the atom, and what are its energies have also been researched upon. Such discoveries are responsible for the great advances that have been made in medicine and various fields today.

Humans’ all interested to get answer for two questions. One, when did this world or universe  appeared, how did it formed? And From which it is formed? Second, how did the creatures of the world came into existence? Tens of thousands of people have been scratching their heads since time immemorial to find answers to these questions. Studies still continue towards finding a definitive answer.

Whether it is the Earth we live on or the solar system or the Milky Way, all the billions of solar systems in it are made up of very small matter and gravity force or matter energy alone. How did the Earth we live on appeared? How did the solar system appear? What did this universe look like? The Indian Neutrino Observatory (INO) near Bodi is such a resourceful research observatory. It is free of any radiation or electricity, so there is no environmental impact as such.

Within each atom are three very important molecules: the proton, the electron, and the neutron. The nucleus is the core of the proton atom. It has either direct magnetism or electromagnetism (+). The proton is a component with a magnetic field (-) opposite to the electron atoms around it. A neutron is ‘neutral’ to any non-electric neutral. There are more than 12 such particles in the atom. One of them is the electrolytic neutrino particle (NEUTRINO).

We get light from the sun. It comes with heat. Similarly, light comes from the stars beyond the sun. But, because its distance is so very far, the heat does not reach us much. But a neutrino is an atom that is ubiquitous throughout the universe with only a very small amount of weight (mass). This is why ‘neutrino particles’ can easily penetrate even into light-emitting objects.

We take X-rays to find out the nature of the disease in our body. X-rays have a nature to scatter. That’s why X-ray technicians protect themselves by wearing lead metal clothing so that, X-rays do not penetrate the body and cause them any harm. However, our protagonist ‘Neutrino’ X-rays can penetrate lead metal and even rock. To that extent it is very, very subtle but not dangerous.

These neutrino particles throughout the universe move in and out of our body at 100 trillion (one trillion is one trillion neutrinos) every day. Then we have to guess how many trillions of neutrinos will go in and out of our body in our lifetime. Even at the rate of 100 trillion neutrinos per second it goes into the body for the rest of our lives. It does not cause any harm not only to us but to any living thing in the world. We are born with a neutrino and live with it.

What is the origin of those amazing atoms? What does it do in this universe? The purpose of neutrino laboratories is to detect the origin and properties and how did our universe created? There are different opinions circulating. One theory is that before the Big Bang, one of the atoms exploded like a bomb and turned into billions of stars and galaxies. Is this neutrino responsible for the Big Bang? What is the source of neutrinos? There are observatories in only the most important countries of the world for the purpose of such diagnosis. Theni, Pottipuram Neutrino observatory is one of them.

The Indian Neutrino Observatory is not at ground level. A tunnel will be dug at a depth of 1.2 km below the ridge of the mountain and an observatory will be set up at a length of 120 meters and a width of 36 meters. Therefore, any other radiation coming out of this observatory is not going to cause any harm to people, livestock, other creatures or wildlife.

Due to the fact that the area where the neutrino observatory can be located is very deep below the ground, there will be no disturbance to the agriculture or even water levels of the people in the area. Similarly, in major cities around the world, subway trains run underground. Didn’t people live above that? Isn’t the traffic not running normally? Then why is this fear only about this neutrino observatory? When it comes to such projects, neither the central government nor the state government makes full arrangements for it.

The observatory project officials in particular do not tell the public the truth of those plans. Authorities are fleeing in fear rather than meeting the public. Therefore, even before the pros and cons of the project are duly stated, the opposing views are widely disseminated. Many projects in Tamil Nadu have been put on hold. Those who have stopped it are mostly affiliated with charities that receive financial assistance from a foreign country or are only affiliated with charities in some other way. They act with narrow mindedness without considering the benefits of national interest.

Currently, we do not live in the thought of the present times; we live in the thought process of over ten thousand years ago. we are willing to enjoy that discoveries of other countrymen. But, we are not willing to participate in any difficulties for new discoveries. because of this we are still lagging behind. What is the ‘Neutrino Observatory’ now located in Bodi – Pottipuram looking like? An observatory for researching rare atomic particles.

We are not the only ones involved. Scientists from many countries are going to come here to study. Even if a small invention of any of these is discovered, it can be talked about internationally and it will add pride to Tamil Nadu and India. The world will turn towards India – towards Tamil Nadu – towards Theni and Pottipuram. This is not going to be used just for neutrino research. Beyond that it is going to be used as a multidisciplinary research observatory for various research students from Tamil Nadu. Right now there are already a lot of students doing various such studies.

The Tamil Nadu government has expressed its opposition in the Supreme court setting up of Theni Neutrino Laboratory in theni. There is a saying in Tamil, ‘You are reading the Ramayana epic, and then demolishing the temples’. Accordingly, the DMK about Periyar and scientific. But they are working against the science that Periyar spoke of. It is not enough for the DMK government to just speak progressively. They must be progressive and scientific in practice as well.

The neutrino observatory is entirely dependent on science. A country where new discoveries are made and science is developed, that country will prosper economically and socially and dominate globally. The state government should not misuse its power for some reason to hinder the development of science.

Form an alliance for political power!

Not one that puts a stumbling block to scientific development

Do not succumb to the pressure of your coalition parties!

D-Stockists – who speaks about the rationally of Periyar can oppose it?

Can oppose the setting up of a Neutrino Science Analysis Centre in Tamil Nadu?

Speaking Rationally is not enough! must act rationally too!

Talk to the people of Pottipuram to allay their fears about neutrinos!

Support the setting up of a science observatory in Tamil Nadu!

Lend a supportive hand to set up a neutrino research center in Tamil Nadu-Theni-Bodi! Let go of  you opposing it!
