The West Bengal incident is reminiscent of Keezhvenmani!

To establish justice for the gross massacre in the Birbhum area,

To send Mamata home,

Will the BJP government enter the fray? Or stand in a daze?

At midnight on December 24, 1968, the poor agricultural labourers of the Devendrakula farming community, mostly women, children and the elderly, were forced into a single hut at midnight for fighting for a half-day increase in their daily wage and for hoisting the flag for their organization in the then lower Thanjavur district of Tamil Nadu, Nagapattinam. The burning incident shook India at that time. A similar incident took place in the Birbhum area of Rampurhat district in West Bengal yesterday. 6 women and 2 children were pushed into the same house and set on fire. We strongly condemn this heinous incident.

Mamata Banerjee has been in power in West Bengal for the last ten years. Mamata Banerjee seized power in West Bengal by politicizing the issue of giving 1850 acres of land in the Singur area to the Tata Group to manufacture affordable cars, as a result of the party’s dominance in the regime, despite the Left taking some important steps, including land reform, for 27 consecutive years. The growth of the Left and the Congress Party over the past decade has been greatly hampered. Political assassinations are on the rise in West Bengal after every election as never before in any other state of India. Next to Mamata’s Trinamool, the BJP is likely to have the largest number of legislators and MPs. West Bengal is becoming a realm of “ROGUE STATE” uncontrollable rowdies as a result of the BJP’s failure to take any itemized action to curb the ongoing violence in West Bengal in the name of democracy, which lost much of its volunteers after the 2019 parliamentary elections and the 2021 assembly elections.

The day before yesterday, 6 women and 2 children were locked inside a single house in West Bengal, Birbhum area and their bodies were cremated to the extent that no part of their body was found. They may even belong to the same party or the same community. But, not one body, not one life. Will these innocent children and women fall victim to the political rivalries and jealousies that may exist between them? Those who commit such inhumane acts of anarchy in West Bengal or any other state are the ones who make such mistakes again and again with the power of ‘there is a man who can escape or save whatever they do’. Mamta can set up a team to find the culprits in the Birbhum massacre. The Human Rights Commission may set up a committee; The federal government may even appoint a CBI or NIA investigative body. We know how long it will take for the culprits to be found and prosecuted and judged.

Only in a few states of India are such political assassinations more prevalent. West Bengal is leading in this. Mamta says that people support and influence people no matter what. No people voted to kill the opposition and set fire to the alternative. Mamata Banerjee seems to be giving a wrong rule to the people of West Bengal in the name of democracy and showing a wrong path to India itself.

It is not clear why the main opposition BJP, Communist and Congress parties are lurking there. If the anarchy and injustice of the Mamata Banerjee regime is not brought to an end now, it could do great damage to Indian democracy. If justice is to be done for the green massacre in Birbhum, it will only be possible if Mamata sends the government home. No judicial inquiry can be conducted properly in West Bengal with the Mamata government in power. It is useless for the people of this state to fight every day with the Chief Minister over the Governor. The federal government does not get a good name either.

There are people who shout that dissolving the state government is illegal and anti-democratic. But no one has the right to stage a show of power in the name of democracy. Will the BJP government step in to bring justice to the Birbhum massacre? Or stand in awe? Let’s wait and see.
